Mayflower School District, Mayflower, Arkansas USA 72106
I have had the extreme pleasure and honor to work at the Mayflower School District since April, 2007. I found Mayflower to be a special district in many ways which makes me feel proud to be involved. It has a unique culture that is very enjoyable and pleasant. It is a friendly place where everyone matters. Although it is hard to describe the culture, it is easy to see, get involved with, and enjoy when you live in the Mayflower community. Over the years I have tried to educate new students on how to fit in when coming to a new school district. The solution in my mind is simple, “ Treat others as you want to be treated.” If you are friendly to others and genuinely help others you will do fine at Mayflower. This is part of the familiy atmosphere we enjoy. It is a great strength and a draw for many students.
For a long time I tried to work out the reason for this special culture. Although the answer is obvious, I thought I would look deeper to be sure. However, it is simple. The teachers have enjoyed, supported and encouraged the culture of nurturing, caring and encouragement. The core long-term families that live in the community also share this positive culture and are very supportive of the School District and community. You see this in the behavior of the students. Although we do have students with needs at Mayflower, we also have a culure that is very positive and supportive.
I am always looking for ways to make our School District better. I believe in continual improvement. If you have ideas or needs, would you kindly complete the following community survey or send me an email. By letting me know, it is much easier to get these improvments implemented. By completing the survey I will be aware of issues and needs. I have a favorite saying, “Be careful what you ask for, you just may get it.”
