Superintendent Update

 

Last Monday was the regular monthly Board meeting.  The following is a summary of the meeting.

 

There was a special meeting that started at 5:00 p.m.  It lasted for about half an hour and was a student discipline hearing.  The student was expelled for the remainder of the school year.

 

Regular meeting started a little after 6:00 p.m.

 

  1. Call to Order
  2. Awards – Middle School’s turn this month for awards.  Students were recognized for improvement in Math, ELA and Science due to their MAP results.  Also Coach Harville was recognized for his Junior Basketball achievements.
  3. Consensual Items of minutes and financial report were approved.
  4. Educational Items – were covered at the end of the meeting.
  5. Business Items
    1. Expenses > $10,000 were approved as follows:

SHI for Chromebooks, $10,000; Greg Cullum for softball field, $10,230; Arch Ford CoOp for services, payment 2, $63,918.25; Jackson Brown Palculict for architect, for $60,583.65; Van Horn Construction, $216,878.84.

  1. Student Transfers

From Conway – Alexis Sellers grade 12, Victoria Santillan grade 3 and Chris Santillan grade 1 were approved.

  1. Athletic Facilities Planning

Project is well underway.Architect and Van Horn construction gave an update.

  1. Priority List update

Board gave approval to install video upgrades in the Middle School.Also to advertise for bids to build a new agriculture animal building.Also it was decided to install concrete on the north side of the HS gym to control water.We also are looking for an architect to help with the HS HVAC project.

  1. Audit Report

The report was presented and adopted by the Board.Overall it was a good audit.

  1. Policy Updates

Several policy updates that have come from ASBA were approved.

  1. Board Vacancy

Mr. Sewell was selected to fill the Board vacancy.

  1. Board Positions

The Board voted to keep the Board positions the same this year as last year.

Resignations were approved for – Steve Herron, Brianna Kristofik and Ryan Foshee

Food Service – Anna Lester of Mayflower

Food Service – Heather Reynolds of Conway

Elem Long Term Sub. – Morgan Lawrence of Maumelle

MS Long Term Sub. – Diann Fry of Conway
