Superintendent Update


The following is a summary of Monday night’s regular monthly Board Meeting


  1. Call to Order
  2. Visitors
    1. Student awards - This was for Middle School students this month.  Volleyball, Choir and Jnr Honor Society were recognized.  Also Randy Rankin was recognized for earning his certification as a Facility Director. Coach Lawless was recognized for volleyball achievements and Pam Pipkins was acknowledged for her leadership in NJHS.
  3. Consensual Items of minutes and financial report were approved. 
  4. Education Items – This was the presentation and explanation of the Literacy Plan by John Pipkins.
  5. Business Items
    1. Expenses > $10,000 were approved as follows -

First Community Bank for loan, $12,749.00, PCMI Willsub for substitutes, $16,369.48; Bank of the Ozarks for loan, $199,228.90; Jackson Brown and Palculict for architect, $46,354.60 and Red River Dodge for Ag Truck, $36,767.00

  1. Athletic Facilities Planning was conducted after student awards as the architect and Van Horn Construction were in attendance.  The submittal plans were reviewed by the Board.  After a discussion and questions, the Board approved the plans for submittal to State Agencies.  The plans are still under review to see if there are any last minute changes by the architect and Van Horn Construction.
  2. Priority List update

The Board decided to present the PPC Committees a suggested $500.00 bonus for payment in December.There was also a discussion for an addition bonus if the School District does well on reading education this school year.This will be discussed further at the next meeting.

  1. Food service program collection procedure

There are several parents owing money to the food service programs for lunches.A collection procedure was discussed by the Board.

  1. Election Budget

The resolution is attached.Apparently we have to have our election in March so we need to get the procedure rolling.

    1. Employment/Resignations

None at this time.

  1. Classified Salary Schedule

Classified salary schedules have to change due to the minimum wage increase to $10.00 an hour on January 1, 2020.The Board approved that we change any salary schedule steps that don’t meet the State law to be raised to the amount that meets the $10.00 an hour requirement.

  1. New food service employee

 The Board created a new position for food service entitled Program Manager. This will be funded by the food service program.It is needed due to the increasing demands of that program.
