Superintendent Update


The following is a summary of last Monday’s regular Board meeting.


  1. Call to Order
  2. Visitors
    1. Millage Extension

The official paperwork was moved by the Board.The election date is set for February 12, 2019 to ask the public to extend the millage.This will not raise our millage but extend it for 13 years.The plan is to use the money to improve our athletic facilities.A discussion was held on what athletic facilities improvements we can afford.It looks like the first area would be to build a new field house.We would also like to look at artificial turf, new bleachers for the home side and renovate the track.Information from our architect will be available during our next meeting to help make these decisions.

  2. Business Items
    1. The expenses > $10,000 were approved as follows:

Arch Ford Educational Service Co Op for services provided, $66,509.99.

  1. Student Transfers were approved as follows:

Out of District

Hollis Smith to Vilonia Age 5

Josie Wingate to Vilonia age 14

Into District

Maddox Parkerson from Conway age 10

Kendra Goodson from Conway age 16

  1. MS/HS Access Roads Update

The discussion continues in the search for another road to give access into the middle school and high school campuses.This will help in times of emergencies and to reduce traffic congestion.The County Judge has agreed to assist with the construction of the road.The School District will need to acquire the right of way for the road.Different locations are still being considered.

  1. Budget

The School District 2018-2019 budget and ACSIP plan were approved.

  1. School Safety Discussion

The Board was updated on our revised crisis planning and evacuation locations.The discussion also included the latest information from the State.

  1. Statement of Assurances was approved by the Board.  This is to ensure we follow federal guidelines.
  1. Employment
    1. Employment/Resignations

The resignation from David Osborne, Computer Tech. was approved.

Long Term Sub

Stephanie Mooney was approved as a long term substitute for high school math.

  1. Superintendent Evaluation

No discussion at this time.
