Superintendent Update

 

The following is an update of last Monday’s regular monthly board meeting.

    1. Student Awards

High School awards were present for Football, Volleyball and Choir

  1. Storm Shelter Update

Our Storm Shelter is as good as finished and the final payment was approved subject to the last few items on the punch list are completed.

  1. Consensual Items

The minutes and financial report were approved.

  1. Business Items
    1. Expenses > $5,000 were approved as follows:  Arkansas Correctional Industries for bookcases, $12,062.94; Merchant and Planters Bank of Newport for bond payment, $23,561.25; Mayflower Banking Center loan, $10,119.66 and Nabholz Construction Services for MS concrete apron, $17,723.00.
    2. Agriculture Animal Care

The animal facilities contract was reviewed and approved by the Board.The purpose of this was mainly to show liability for animals kept at the school. It also provided information on whom and how the facility is to be used.It was also decided to pay the invoice for the sheep that died. That responsibility will be shared by the agriculture program and the district.

c. Student Transfers from Conway were approved.

  

  1. Employment

a. Resignations/Employment

    Resignations: Tressie Simpson – aide was approved.

Employment: Jacob Marek for agriculture teacher effective Jan 2, 2018 subject to obtaining certification was approved.

b. Long Term Substitute

Adrian Stafford was approved as a long term substitute for elementary.

c. Staff Bonus

The Board approved a onetime bonus for $250 gross for all contracted staff.This will be handed out at the Staff Banquet on Thursday evening.

d. Superintendent Evaluation

The Board went into executive session to review the superintendent evaluation materials.
